Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy - How does it Work?


Did you know that by the time we are 20, most of our behaviour happens at an unconscious level?  By that age we are automatically using habitual patterns of behaviour we are not even aware of, which were created in the past, often in response to a stressful situation in childhood. 

The mind wants to take the path of least resistance so we can do things effectively, and once we have created a pattern of behaviour, we will continue to use it, even if it is not that useful any more. 

This can of course be beneficial – once we have learnt to drive a car, we can do it well without thinking about it.  But it can also severely limit our choices.  We might continue to react fearfully to a spider or a dog, or find ourselves eating a large meal without even tasting the food.  It can become a habit to suppress emotions with nicotine or alcohol.

From a logical point of view, these behaviours should be easy to deal with, but we all know this is not the case.  This is because the problem is at an unconscious level.  What hypnotherapy does is to allow you to access your unconscious, and bring the unconscious and conscious minds into rapport. 

This is why phobias can literally disappear!  Human beings suffer from all kinds of fears which can adversely affect the quality of our lives, and they can be dealt with so easily.

Hypnotherapy can also align the conscious and unconscious minds to help you change bad habits and lose weight, stop smoking or drinking, take up regular exercise etc.

It is effective in stress management and in dealing with emotions such as anxiety, anger, lack of confidence and panic attacks.  As I have discovered, it can help with healing and the management of chronic pain.
